So I’ve written my post for tomorrow (it’s a nice one this time), and now I’m easing my boredom with some good ole 80s & 90s R&B jams. Wanna come along for the ride?
First up, Bobby Brown
Man, YouTube is awesome. Who knew I’d get to watch old school Bobby Brown (well, more middle school since New Edition came first) whenever the whim struck?
Come on, who could resist those Bobby biking shorts and suspenders? If you say you could, you’re a damned liar.
It’s Friday Monday night, and I feel alright
Why’s he so fly? (I’ll tell you why: because he’s Usher. That’s why.)
Don’t worry. I didn’t forget Janet.
There was a time in my life that I wanted to be Cyndi Lauper. Not long after, I distinctly remember wishing I had even a fraction of Janet Jackson’s cool and sex appeal.
~
These are some of the first that come to mind. I intentionally left off Michael Jackson & Prince. Michael Jackson, because how does one pick one song? And Prince, because while I’m madly in love with 1980s Prince’s music, I never considered him R&B.
Are you into this genre at all? Or this era of the genre? If so, what are some of your faves?
~
One more that doesn’t count, but it’s funny as hell and YouTube seems to think it fits the vids I was looking at:
Good times. Lots of dancing (some while the vids played)…it’s too bad I can’t move quite like I could when these songs came out.

As long as you’re still moving and having fun…that matters more than anything. 🙂

Go on, put your damn boogie shoes on! Or is it too late? It’s 10:20. Stupid work in the morning. Stupid adulthood. To hell with it – just dance!

Here it’s 11:20. I played Jess Glynne’s Gave Me Something and tried to throw my back out!
Ha-just joking. But I did get up and dance. That song just does it for me. Perhaps I’ll write a post about it….

You totally should. When it hurts too much to dance, we can at least write about not dancing. Wait…that didn’t sound nearly as fun as I thought it would. 😉

Nahhhh…you have to dance. I do when the spirit hits me. Writing about not dancing is no fun at all.

I have this secret fear that the blinds will fall down mid-dance fever, and all of my neighbors will see me busting a move.
I don’t suppose it’s much of a secret now that I’ve told you, is it?
But I can’t help it. Can’t stop the funk. 😀

Nope. Think your blinds are a bit too far away for me to see though. Ok kid. I’m calling it a night. Gotta hustle on the day job in the A.M. Thanks for the laughs. 😀

Ahaha! Yeah, yeah. Stupid work. I gotta hit it, too. Goodnight…and thank you, too. 🙂

Janet Jackson is the Queen. Of what, I don’t know, but she’s a Queen. I was fashionable back then, wearing just one hoop earring with a key dangling from it, just like Janet. 🙂

Yes! You were totally cool! And you know, I think this may have been the first video I saw of hers. And Rhythm Nation was a major favorite.

Sweet! Those were some of the first that popped in my head. I was thinking about New Edition, and one thing led to another. Bam. Bobby Brown! I’ve been working on a playlist for jams like that. It’s not going well…I have trouble remembering all my old faves!

YES! Oldies throw backs! Love it. 😉 Wait…is that really oldies? Am I OLD!? GAH! hahahaha. I do have a strong passion for Boyz II Men. Just sayin’! PS How do post a youtube video in my blog…I am not tech savvy…hence my question. 😉

Ohmygosh, I still want Boyz II Men to be my boyfriend. Just as one unit, kickin’ it just for me. Ha!
For the vids: When you’re on a YouTube video, click “share” just beneath the video. Then “embed.” It will give you a long html code with the link in it – you’ll copy and paste the whole thing into your post. Sometimes I have to play with the formatting once it’s in there, centering and spacing before and after. I always preview the post a few times to make sure it looks right. But I can be kinda ridiculous about it! 😀
