There you sit, all high and mighty.
You think you’re better than me.
Don’t bother trying to deny it.
I see your sneers of derision.
I hear your whispered plans.
I know you would see my end.
What, you thought I didn’t know?
That I’m not one of the chosen ones?
Hand-selected to exist alongside you?
How foolishly blind you are.
Look at how you must coddle them:
The beauty of your haughty friends comes at a price.
You want them to be with you,
But they resist at every turn, don’t they?
They make you work for their charms.
Yet here I stand, so proud and strong,
Weathering the storms of life
And the destruction of man.
You hunt me down, murderously plucking me from existence.
But you haven’t heard the last from me.
I am far stronger and more persistent than you.
I’ll be back, you sanctimonious prick; I’ll be back.
And this time?
This time, I’m coming for you.
Pluck me, will you?
No, no.
Pluck You.
Wow! My flowers tell me that I’m a sanctimonious prick when I pluck them? lol I loved this, although I’ll be listening more as I garden.

I freaking love dandelions. But I have also brutally murdered quite a few of them to watch their seeds float away. They’re like the hydra of flowers: pluck one, two (or eighty) more come up in its place.

Ha! Yes, they are! They’re all over my yard right now…which tells you I’m behind on mowing. But they’re so gorgeous, I can’t force myself to do it. Not until they’re gone…I think. We’ll see.

Ever since I saw the title in my reader, I’ve been singing the Cee-Lo Green song, but with your words subbed in.

If you murder the flowers there’s no where for the fairies to live… that’s what mum told me when I used to sit and pick petals off flowers because I was a dumb kid. They got me back though, I can’t count the amount of times I’ve fallen arse over tit in a garden.

So no more the wallflower letting life go by fading into the back ground. Now we have another enemy…. Plant life…. And you appear to be on their side.
Crikey it’s getting to be a scary place out there…..

Great, creative poem! I actually think that a lot of weeds (like dandelions) are a lot prettier than we give them credit for! A lot of times they’re just as pretty if not more so than other flowers! It’s kind of like leaves in a way, I don’t always understand the point of racking them or picking them unless we have to.

Thank you!
And yes, they’re gorgeous aren’t they? Weeds and wildflowers and leaves…oh I love them so! Raking makes me sad…I love a leave-carpeted ground in the fall. So pretty and crunchy.

You’re welcome! I never really get the point of raking leaves. I like them on the lawn!
